Colin Ebsworth is a stand-up comedian and comedy writer whose goal is to spread ideas & spark conversations through his brand of prolific comedy.
After discussing Colin's goals and brand vision, we were able to uncover three main approaches that distinguish him in the industry— his desire to create prolific comedy, favour community over competition, and focus on increasing accessibility for emerging comedians and audiences alike.
His aim is to make comedy widely available and sharable to help more people digest relevant topics and make people laugh in the direction of positive change.
Colin's logo is bold, simple and adaptable, which is ideal for his changing show themes and promotional materials. The angled text is reminiscent of comedy billboard lineups and adds visual interest to the logo.
Photography takes a lead role in Colin's visual identity to set the mood and theme, so we worked with Jess Wyld to take some playful snaps for comedy writing and standup comedy portraits.
While we kept his logo and typeface simple, we wanted to bring the fun with splashes of bright yellow and aqua used for buttons, underlines and calls to action.
Colin's website needed to act as a hub for promoting him as an artist, showcasing his upcoming shows, profiling his writing services and showcasing his articles.
We wanted it to be easy to update and edit the website, so created a number of dynamic sections that, when edited in one location, update across the entire website. We also integrated his existing Mailchimp email marketing software to collect email addresses automatically.
With a fun project like this, it would have been easy to get carried away with embellishment and layers. We decidedly kept some elements of Colin's visual identity and website simple and stripped back, so that his writing, videos and photography could take centre stage in communicating his brand.
